PAYBACK TIME...

PAYBACK TIME
As I saw Papa today,
Suddenly noticed his hair turn gray,
I saw a few wrinkles,
A mist in the eyes that always twinkle!

Why did I never notice it before?
Was I too busy in my own chores?

But of course his fading memory,
& those increased periods of reverie...
A little hunch in that giant stride,
His rising desire to see me a bride!

I remember him as my hero!
So finicky about how I grow!
He always did my homework for me;
All it needed – a little whim & plea!

He worked hard all day & night,
Striving to make our future bright,
& those fun-filled fake fights,
When he assured “You have great might!”

Now the time that the table is turned,
A beautiful lesson I have learnt!
Till yesterday, he was my shelter,
Now it’s my turn to look after...

Take him back to the carefree days,
Where he can be a child again...
Stroll along in his excursion,
On the heavenly journey of reinvention!!!
